Hypothermic Half Marathon
Saturday, February 27th, 2016
A very small half marathon put on by Running Room Canada. This event is only chip-timed at certain locations, and Lethbridge is not one of them. I used this as part of an 18 mile training day, where I did 5 miles prior to race start. My watch time for the half marathon was 1:42.16.
Moonlight Run 10km
Saturday, March 19th, 2016
The most popular running event in Lethbridge occurs every March. Offering a 6km or 10km, there was over 2800 total participants. The course is challenging, with the downhill, uphill and darkness. I ran a 44:10 (my second best Moonlight time), and while not my best Moonlight time I was able to place 3rd in the female category. My placing was 28/525 overall, 3/289 in female, and 1/48 in the female 30-34 category. Happy to do so well, and win some $$$ for Boston!
Run the Trailbreaker Half Marathon
Saturday, April 2nd, 2016
Was home for Easter, so why not run a race! This was my first ‘long race test’ on my foot this year. The conditions were slippery and rough, but foot held up fine, and so did I! Finished in 1:39.37, 3/98 female, 2/17 in my age group and 11/168 overall.
10 Mile Road Race
Saturday, April 9th, 2016
Well, this made me question my pacing for Boston…in a good way! It went exceptionally well, and I ran my personal best 10 mile race time of a 1:12.59. This was good enough for 2nd female overall (2/40), 1st in my age group (1/12) and 13/94 overall. So now should I push the limits in Boston or run comfortably….
B.A.A. 5 km
Saturday, April 16th, 2016
Dan and I participated in the B.A.A. 5km event, the first event of the 2016 B.A.A. running series. I did this run as my ‘shake out’ run for the weekend, and I had Dan join me for the heck of it. A nice easy 29:18 was the time! An amazing way to start the running portion of my weekend, along with 10,000 other runners!
120th Boston Marathon
Monday, April 18th, 2016
What can I say….I ran the Boston Marathon. Bucket list event that I finally qualified for and now ran. 3:35.01. Time of my life.
Montana Spartan Beast
Saturday, May 7th, 2016
My fourth year heading down to Montana to do the Spartan Race, but this time was with my best friend Ali. We had a great time running this hellish course. I was very happy to join her on this race as she quests for a 5x Trifecta this year. I, however, will stick to my standard road races.
Lakeview Superhero 5 km
Wednesday, May 11th, 2016
Lakeview Elementary School hosted their 1st ever fun run, with a superhero theme! They had over 450 runners show up to run in the 2km or 5km. It was a fundraiser to help build their new playground, with Scotiabank matching all the proceeds! I am an idiot who forgot I own a Buzz Lightyear costume, so I ran without costume. But I still had fun! Ran a 22:16 and 1st female. A little sad I couldn’t get under 22:00, but considering my calves and shins hate me from Spartan Race last weekend I am pleased.
Woody’s RV World Half Marathon
Sunday, May 22nd, 2016
Red Deer, AB
My fifth time doing this race, and this was nasty! Rain, wind, cold and puddles galore. I was also feeling pretty miserable and sick the morning off, so at mile 4 I decided to not look at my watch and just get it over with the best I could. 1:46.35 was the time, with 91/649 overall, 19/371 female and 5/141 in my age group…and I couldn’t have been happier for it to be over!
Calgary Marathon Weekend 50 km Ultra
Sunday, May 29th, 2016
I swore I would never do the 50km road race again after finishing last year…but of course, I signed up this year to see what I was made of! Glad I did, because I came out feeling stronger and with a better time than the year prior! Ran a 4:23.10, good enough to beat my time from 2015 by over 17 minutes! Earned age category trophy bling, had a great time, and would highly recommend it to those crazy enough to run 50km on pavement!
Lethbridge Police Services 5km
Saturday, October 1, 2016
My first event since surgery. I did not ‘race’ it, but I ran with my WCHS Cross Country team. I went ahead of them a bunch of times to stop and take photos, then ran in with the girls in the back of the pack. I was sad not to be doing the half marathon, but hopefully next year! a far cry from my personal best, but I had fun (on my birthday!) and did a 33:21.
Bare Bones 9km
Sunday, October 16th, 2016
My second EVENT but first RACE since surgery. Wanted to give it my all and see how I felt. Foot felt FANTASTIC which is really all I could ask for. The patience during recovery paid off. 2nd female overall and a 43:38. I’ll take it!
Claus Cause 10km
Saturday, November 19th, 2017
In the three years before, I did the 10km twice, and the 5km once. Was anxious and nervous for the 10km today. I pushed through and finished with a 3rd place female and 1st in my age group. While my time of 47:30 was nothing to write home about for me, it was a good start as I come back from surgery (and very little speed work)
