Dopey Challenge-January 9-12th. Walt Disney World, Florida
5 km-44:58
10 km-1:09:10
Half Marathon-2:32:31
Full Marathon-3:50:52
Walked the 5km with mom and Dan, jogged the 10km with Dan, took it easy on the half and stopped for every photo stop on the course, and then used all the juice I had left at the full! Four morning wake up calls of 2:45 AM will wear anyone down, and then take into consideration the racing! Fantastic experience!
27th Annual Moonlight Run 10km-March 8th, 2014. Lethbridge, Alberta
10km-47:27.
I placed 2/41 in the female 25-29 category, 4/303 in women, and 45/539 overall! The hill was a major challenge, but I knew it would be! I tackled it the best I could and am super proud of how I did! My goal was top 3 in my category and I managed to best that by one spot!
Rogers Insurance Run for L’Arche Half Marathon-March 22nd, 2014. Calgary, Alberta
Half Marathon-1:38:39
I went into this race thinking it was possible to break 1:40. I had last done 1:41:07 in October on a hilly course in Lethbridge. But as I drove up to Calgary Saturday morning and the temperature was barely above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, I wasn’t so sure. Pure grit and determination won over, and I am still in a shock that I am now running half marathons in the 1:30s. I placed 1/32 in age 20-29 females, 6/110 female, and 44/236 overall.
Coaldale Family Fun Run 5km-March 29th, 2014. Coaldale, Alberta
I haven’t ran a chip-timed 5 km in years! A great Saturday morning out in Coaldale! Ran 22:59 and snagged some 2nd place bling for females 20-29!
Lethbridge 10 Mile Road Race-April 12, 2014. Lethbridge, Alberta
Went in to this race with a sore knee, but still high hopes. Wanted to beat my 1:23:17 from last year. Didn’t just beat that, but smashed it with a 1:14:49! I earned 1st in my 20-29 female age group and also received a $150 cash award for 2nd place female overall!
Montana Spartan Sprint-May 9th, 2014. Big Fork, Montana
Did this race for the second year in a row and it was a hit yet again! Fantastic course in a beautiful area of the United States. Course distance was close to 5 miles, and was challenging once again. This was a “Founder’s Race” as the founders of Spartan Race helped build this course. We received a special medal as part of the Sprint medal! Finished with our friends with a time of 1:46:38!
Woody’s RV World Red Deer Half Marathon-May 18th, 2014
The fourth time I have done this event, and it was my best race to date! Ran a 1:43.09, but more importantly, met my pacing goal of being near 8:00 minutes per mile. This race was meant for practice with pacing so I am set to go in Calgary on June 1st for my full…and my quest for a BQ!
Scotiabank Calgary Full Marathon-June 1st, 2014
I went in attempting a BQ but had to settle with a PB. Ran a 3:46:22. I know what things I need to change and I am going to do what I can in order to earn a BQ this year.
Millarville Run to the Farmers’ Market-June 14th, 2014
Second time doing this mentally challenging rural race! Great weather conditions helped me beat last years’ time by 8 minutes! Finished with a 1:44.32!
Stampede Road Race-July 6th, 2014
A 3:15 alarm…a drive to the Calgary area….this has become the story of my running life. After my last two performances-not making a Boston Qualifying time in the full downtown, and having a so-so performance in Millarvillea-I was desperately seeking redemption. I got it in the form of a bad-ass personal best of 1:37:54, beating my time from March when I also ran in Calgary! This city CAN be good to me…!
Calgary Spartan Sprint-August 16th, 2014
Second time doing the Calgary event, but first time doing a Spartan Race with my best friend! It was her first running event ever! I am so proud of her and am so happy I got to see her finish the challenging course in 1:44:01
Edmonton Full Marathon-August 24, 2014
This would be my second and last shot this year for Boston. I sadly came up short, but with a personal best of 3:44:59. I will tackle full marathons again in the near future and someday I will earn my way to Boston
Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Dumbo Double Dare-August 30-31st, 2014
Ran the 10km with my best friend (her first ever 10km!) in 1:27:51. Ran the half the following day in 1:39:57, my 3rd best Half Marathon time to date! Earned my priceless Coast to Coast Medal also
Lethbridge Regional Police Services Half Marathon-September 13, 2014
Second year of this event, and my second time running it. Gorgeous cool temperatures and a downhill course led to a new personal best of 1:37:51, a 2nd place overall female ranking, and $100 cheque! Success!
27th Annual Run for the Pumpkin 4km-October 4th, 2014
A short run, by my standards, with 7 of our cross country kids. Gorgeous day, low-key & small event–kids did great, and I earned 1st female in 19 and older with a time of 17:23
8th Annual Bare Bones Half Marathon-October 19, 2014
My third year in a row running this local event, which benefits the Lethbridge Humane Soceity. Race is a challenge, as you start in Softball Valley and have to climb up the Lynx Trail hill onto Scenic at about mile 5. I ran a Bare Bones personal best of 1:40.43, which was fast enough to earn me 1st in the 30-39 female category. And I was the 1st place female overall!
Tyranena Beer Run Half Marathon-November 8, 2014
Went home for the long weekend and ran this race out in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, with my good friend Kirby. The goal-help her get a personal best! Ran with her and paced her to her best finish (her fourth half marathon finish) with a 2:21.28!
Mustache Dache 5km-November 9, 2014
Was already coming back home for the Tyranena Half, so two weeks before I found this Lakefront 5km benefitting prostate cancer research. Myself, Kirby, my friend Maureen and her fiancée Ryan all participated. I went out on the mission to beat my 11-year standing 5km record. And I did! Ran a 21:08 and was the first place female!
Claus Cause 10km-November 15th, 2014
I had barely been home from my Wisconsin race adventures when this event rolled in! I managed to defend my 1st place title from the previous year on this cold race day, where I ran a 45:50.
Santa Shuffle 5km-December 6th, 2014
Small local fun-run (i.e., not chip timed). The course clocked in longer than a 5km on my watch and wasn’t meant for a personal best. I still mustered a 23:11. Which was good enough for 1st place. Not female. Overall. Yeah, small race. But happy nonetheless!
